Central's history and achievements

Central Academy of Taekwondo was established in November 1993, Initially the classes were once per week - on Tuesday evenings at Carronshore Community Centre. It quickly became twice per week and soon expanded to include Thornhill Community Centre on the other side of Falkirk.
Today Central can boast of around 250 licensed members training at seven different venues around Falkirk & Grangemouth.

The Club was the first one in the area registered with the British Taekwondo Control Board. This means we have full World Taekwondo Federation Recognition. It is a major part of the United Taekwondo Association, which is led by Master TW Shin (9th Dan).

The club has already produced over 154 first class Black Belts, all fully recognised by the World Taekwondo Federation, 52 of these students have reached 2nd &a further 12 have achieved 3rd Dan status as well as 7 reaching 4th Dan.

The club has had a major influence over WTF taekwondo in Scotland. It has been at the forefront of all major WTF events. Central inaugurated the 1st Scottish Open International Championships in 1996 and has organised many other competitions and tournaments.

Seminars run by Central have included training with National Team Coaches from Holland,Russia and even Korea. Last year Central played host to one of the worlds most senior masters 'Grandmaster Kim Soon Bae'. Who also conducted a grading whilst in Scotland.
