Central Academy had a very successful British Championships at the Manchester Velodrome at the weekend.
Our team of 17 players achieved 3 Gold, 3 Silver and 5 Bronze Medals overall.
There were 450 players
from 54 teams from all over the UK and Central Academy finished in an incredible 7th place
in the overall team rankings.
Ross Eden won the Junior Male -73kg category. His final was one of the most exciting of the day with Ross
coming from behind to take the title in superb fashion.
Chris Sweeten won the Junior Male -48kg category.
He beat the current UK number 1 by a 7 point gap in the final, proving he is now head and shoulders above
all other players in his division. Both Ross and Chris are now in contention for a place on the British Team for
the Junior European Championships to be held in Sweden at the end of this month.
Chris McIntyre became coloured belt British Champion at Senior Male -67kg. Congratulations to our
newly crowned British Champions.
Team Coach Alan Dunsmuir, who did a great job helping to prepare the team, worked tirelessly for the whole
two days looking after our players.
Angie Bailey made her debut as a centre referee at the event and received lots of positive feedback from the International Referees for her performance.
Well done to the entire team for the fantastic results.
